performances with children
Hello. I had some helpful feedback about children and safeguarding from my last query - thank you. Please can anyone advise me about the need (or not) for children who are performing with a choir to have a licence to do so? My community choir (which out of around 30 members currently has just one child) is hoping to include performances from a very small local children's choir and a beginners' brass band (mostly comprised of children) in our Christmas concert.

The band leader has shown me a form from a band website which indicates that children who perform at an event for which the audience pay for tickets or make donations and/or which is held at licensed premises must all have a licence to perform. The band leader and the leader of the children's choir should make arrangements for their own groups if necessary, but where do I stand on this with the one child who attends the Community choir, always in the company of her mother?
Any help would be really welcome, please!
Thank you very much.

Legal queries
I'm looking for advice on some legal matters - 1) How do other choirs deal with insurance when they are performing away from regular rehearsal premises? 2) If we involve an unpaid children's choir in performances in licensed premises, are we expected to complete paperwork for safeguarding, chaperoning etc?

Website design
Is anyone able to recommend a web design company they’ve used to set up a website for their choir(s) please? Not sure where to begin but I know I’d like areas for members to be able to download rehearsal tracks. I’ve looked at ‘design your own website’ sites but I’m just not clever enough to do it myself.
Thank you in advance.

I seem to have the same access problem. Locked key symbols. Help please! Kathy

Locked sign
Hello, I don't seem to be able to access any of the warm-ups, rounds etc. There is a locked sign next to each of them. I am a member but am I missing something?

any suggestions for improving tuning (a cappella) when changing key to a semitone higher during a song? There is a link bar and individually each part can do the transition, but when layering up it still seems to drift sometimes.

Saturday emails
Hello Christine and Victoria - I just wanted to say how much I appreciate your Saturday emails, always relevant, helpful and encouraging. Thank you.

Sharing Resources and Repertoire Ideas
Today is the first day I've had the time to explore the new site and I've found it very slick.
I'd welcome an area where members could share their recommendations for songs which have worked particularly well (organised by parts eg SSA) or even a place where members could upload their own arrangements of songs which are out of copyright for other members to use.
Please give this some consideration. Many thanks.

Licencing minefield
Hello.
I really want to do things right and am struggling to get my head around all the licencing requirements for singing in different venues in the UK. Perhaps if I list what I know, someone may be able to confirm that it is correct?
If we sing in a church and the church has a CCLI Licence, we are covered regardless of what we sing?
If we sing in a shopping centre, it is the responsibility of the shopping centre to contact PPL / PRS to inform them of the event?

If we sing outside, at an unticketed event, we would need to obtain a licence ourselves from PPL / PRS?
It all seems quite complicated.
I'm also wondering what sort of licence we would need to be able to record and distribute rehearsal tracks legally? or record the concerts?
I'd be very grateful for any advice, clarification or information you may have. I'm feeling a bit bogged down.
Thank you
Jill
