Thinking of joining the organization Making Music - can anyone tell me their experiences? is it worthwhile? Hope it would make things straightforward when planning any sort of choir event.
I direct a large choir (125 singers) and we have been members of Making Music for about 10 years now. After a while we insured the choir through MM and more recently we took subscription to have a new Website Platform through MM. It’s an excellent organisation and with Total Choir Resources we feel we have brilliant coverage! Do ask if you want to know more…! Keith
thanks for your reply. I'd love to know in what ways you have found it particularly helpful. Our choir is much smaller, about 40 and we dont do many formal performances - lots of community stuff often outside. I dont take a salary but we do have a secretary and a treasurer and people pay half yearly. We use the money for expenses and sometimes subsidising choir members' fees at workshops etc. I noticed something in Making Music info that says you CAN'T share out any funds with members, which I didnt really understand! I will obviously get in touch with the organization for more details but would be very interested in hearing more from your understanding. Are you a full member?
Thank you for posting that helpful reply Keith. I don't have experience of Making Music as a member (and for those reading this thread, MM is UK only), but we worked with them during the lockdowns and they were fantastic.
